How Do You See?

Welcome reader,

How do you see? How do you see the things going on around you? Many people I have run across during my life, seem to have some intelligence, while others barely understand the word itself. Now, some will talk to you about the word "see", and say that it's about perception or what you perceive from your surroundings. However, what many people will not tell you is that your perception isn't solely based on your sight/vision.

Your individual perception must go deeper than the surface. If you don't, then you do a disservice to yourself and create the future you shouldn't be living. Your individual perception should incorporate everything you've managed to comprehend and accumulated as knowledge. The word "knowledge" is just about everything you learned. The word "wisdom" is the discernment of that knowledge. If you are using wisdom, then you will know it as truth. Make no mistake here, you can be mislead by yourself, so as to protect something else.

How do you see? Knowledge and Wisdom

I am presently 43 years old and spent much of early living, learning about "Life". Now, it's broad topic, but is limited, when you actually apply it to a specific individual. As I said above, perception is about more than just sight. When you see something? You must try and figure out what it is you saw? At that time, your brain operating at computer speed, grants you the power to identify, whatever it is you saw. It uses the knowledge you've already accumulated and then you realize/recognize the object.

However, many people seem to think that every person's perception is different? Well, in one aspect, that would be correct, but in others, you might find yourself on the same page, with the same perception as others. People agree and disagree, simply based on perception. It's one reason why witness identification isn't considered as reliable, as it once did. There is just too much distortion and misinformation being spread throughout the world today, for anyone to try and understand, almost anything. It's sad to see, but it's truth.

Knowledge and Wisdom are the main keys?

Knowledge and Wisdom are the main keys to any human beings' life. It is what help you create your own future. It grants you the power to see through the bullshit, when it rises to the top, like it has in many religious and political leaders, presently running the world. When you look at these individuals, on a one-to-one basis, you can see that they are not truly giving a damn, what is happening around the world. To them, they are in it for themselves.

This isn't a perception, skewed by negativity and it doesn't come from an angry little man, who has nothing better to do with his time. If you're not willing to honestly look around yourself and not get upset with the atrocities of the world, then please check your ego at the door. It is obviously in your way from seeing what is truly happening. If you only have compassion for yourself or just your family and friends, then you haven't apparently learned what it truly means to be human. I don't want to upset you, but I do want you to consider what I am telling you. Why? Because, to me, peace is that important. You might not think so, but I don't expect you to understand.

Never Stop Learning - Wisdom Is Key To Truth!
Never Stop Learning - Wisdom Is Key To Truth!

Wisdom Is Limitless.

Wisdom is limitless. You can never be too wise. You can never learn enough. When you accumulate knowledge, you must discern wisdom from that knowledge, because it is how you find truth. Some people love to argue, what is truth? And, many continue the argument by saying that truth is an individual perception/perspective.

And, for any other species, that could be a truth, but not for the human species. Truth is truth and it is recognized when seen. How do I know this? Because, I have been told many times over that when I write something, either article or poem, the wisdom I possess is shared and recognized. To make it easier for you to understand- Truth is in everything in existence. Truth is inside a Lie. What happens when a LIE is revealed as a Lie? What is left? Truth!

It is important that you take your time and learn all that you can. It is extremely vital to you being true to yourself. When you stop yourself from learning, then you only damage yourself. That is a truth! You can deny it, but that won't change what it is.

Thank you for your time

Cags...WELL DONE! In a half hour no less. I am impressed, and I loved the topic. You need to give this a longer treatment someday, for sure.

Well written and thought provoking. I won't try to comment on your message because I need to read it a couple of times and properly think about what you are saying. It may be too deep for me, but I am what I am.

Cagsil is this your 30 minute hub? I am guessing it is as I don't remember ever seeing a score this low on anything you've published previously. Although mine doesn't count, mine came in three minutes late, I did try. It was a truly amazing feeling fighting the clock to get something accomplished.

Holy crap, Cags. Look, it's fine if you want to be deep and probe dark corners of existence, but, in the future, can you not include really awesome images, perfectly aligned in modular sychronisity in a half hour whilst I struggle with just hitting the comma key rather than the period?

Good stuff, dude. Really polished and amazing for only 30 minutes. Nice.

Amazing hub for a 30 minute gathering of knowledge together with wisdom. Loved what you had to say, especially perception and what seeing really is. I doubt I could only have a 30 minute coffee with you, the convo would not even get warmed up.

Thank you Motown. :) It's always a pleasure. I appreciate the compliment, read and comment. :)

@Danette- thank you for reading and commenting. I'm glad you took part in the challenge. :)

@Mark- nothing I write is too deep for anyone to think about. I have faith in you. You're more than welcome to read it as many times as you like and any questions feel free to post a comment.

@Wheelinallover- Yes, this is the hub from the challenge. And, no, the score is usually not this low. It's always fun to play against the clock. The trick is to not get tied up watching the clock and just let thoughts flow through your fingertips. You did well for the challenge, even if it didn't come in on time. You gave it a shot. That's all that was asked. :) Thank you for reading and commenting. Much appreciated.

@Shadesbreath- Thank you kind sir. Much appreciated. But, like I told you before, it's not deep to me. It's everyday thinking. :P As for the pictures and alignment, I only chose a pre-set format/layout, which put all the capsules I needed for the challenge. :P But, I loved your comment. It made me laugh. As always, a pleasure. :)

@Jewels- Thank you for reading and commenting, and complimenting. It brought a smile. :)

Thank you BadCo for stopping by and leaving such a nicely intelligent response. It appears as if you have more to say on the topic, but lack the balls or energy or language to do so. You making a statement with regards to tell me I am full of shite? Goes to show you lack the education to speak correctly to begin with and do not possess the intelligence to dispute what is written in the hub. Good to know. Enjoy.

Hi Cagsil, very brilliantly written indeed.

I especially like the section where you said that most people will say we all perceive differently but it is not always the case. You are right, even though we may be individuals with our own thought processes more often than not we find that others perceptions are similar to ours.

Some one said that wisdom is the pursuit of knowledge, and as you said that is how we find truth.

Thanks you for explaining this the way you did.

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 10 months ago

Thank you Cardisa for stopping by, reading and commenting. I appreciate your compliment as well. :) Wisdom is discerned truth. It comes from knowledge. So, in essence, wisdom could be seen as the pursuit of knowledge, considering you cannot obtain wisdom without first having knowledge. There are plenty of people willing to say that their truth is different than other people's truth. And, I say, there is a universal truth. It is known when recognized. The only time it's not recognized is when one chooses ignorance, and that would stem from one's ego. :) Thank you again. :)

Great hub!

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 10 months ago

Thank you RealHousewife for reading and commenting. The older I get- the more I realize how much I actually know vs what is not known. You actually know more than you realize, which is the point of the hub. I appreciate your compliment too. Just remember, what you know and how you apply it is what matters most. It shouldn't be a worry about what you don't know, because your brain and mind, has more knowledge which needs to be turned to wisdom, so as to open you up. :) :D

Cagsil - even more thought provoking:) thank you. My work involves research - and I think I've always been drawn to that field because I enjoy learning so much! I also love writing a lot because I can choose any topic I'm thinking about and research it. It's just so interesting to me - so finding hub and all of you really genius thinkers/writers has been wonderful.

I think I "see" what you mean though - sometimes I am surprised to find I know an answer to a question, and amused I cant remember how I learned it!

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 10 months ago

You're welcome and thank you for returning to comment again. I appreciate your compliment(genius?). LOL! But, I don't seem to be at that level, believe it or not. Genius is a rating for intelligence, which isn't something I possess, to be honest. I am of the understanding that the knowledge I've learned and discerned wisdom, has given me a simple truth about life on an individual level. I am not longer surprised by the answer I come up with, even if it's something I am unsure of where I learned it. I just know I learned it somewhere and that my subconscious brings me the answers whenever I need them. :)

RealHousewife profile image

RealHousewife Level 8 Commenter 10 months ago

Thank goodness for the subconscious right? Lol I really think we all individually posses knowledge about many things - it would be hard to truly gauge how smart someone is based on knowledge of facts alone - but like you said - it's how you use it!

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 10 months ago

Actually RealHousewife....Yes, I appreciate my subconscious. The problem with most people are wrapped up in two things- (a)ego and (b)awareness. Trying to judge a person's individual intelligence is just a guessing game setup with specific measures. Wisdom knows no bounds. :) Thank you so much for responding. :)

What a great hub! Thanks for recommending it. I completely understand what you are saying... (in reference to my hub on false criticism - this hub would be beneficial to the one who misunderstands or makes false assumptions. It's their fault it they do not make an effort to uncover the truth. My hub on false criticism is meant to benefit the one who is misunderstood and how they can overcome the false assumptions.) Well done - I love that wisdom just seems to ooze from your heart to your fingertips.

I really enjoyed reading about your comparisons between knowledge and wisdom We can all aspire to learn more as we age and acquire the latter.

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 7 months ago

Thank you very much Peggy. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment. Knowledge and wisdom are all that we have to discern truth. People should never stop learning, because it's too important to gaining Wisdom that is needed for understanding of life. Some people continue to learn and learn, and learn, but never gain the Wisdom they need. It seems ridiculous but it's completely dependent upon how they see to begin with. If their perception isn't on target, due to a lack of knowledge(including experience) then they are not going to perceive accurately. Thank you again. :) And, thank you for the fan(follow) mail. :) It made me smile. :)

Another great article. For me it re-triggered some questions I've had about perception that I will have to explore in an article in the near future. Suffice to say that there are many unreliable processes between seeing, perceiving, analysing and understanding. The least we can do is try our best to get right what is in our control.

One of the best explanations I've heard on this is as follows.

We all have knowledge, but it's how we use that knowledge that defines our wisdom.

I quite like your statement about truth being within a lie. Once you expose the lie, only truth remains. I used this very concept to argue deception. One cannot know they are deceived until the lie they had been led to believe is exposed by the TRUTH. :)

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 4 months ago

Thank you aka-dj for reading and commenting. I would sort of disagree with that explanation and no I'm not trying to create an argument- how we use that knowledge doesn't define our wisdom, but shows off whether or not that wisdom is truly discerned wisdom(truth). I appreciate your reading.
