Poem About Ignorance Is Justified

Ignorance Is Justified

People claim ignorance is blissful,
Yet, these people claim to know everything.

People think they have a grasp on life,
Yet these same people claim ignorance.

The subtle way ignorance takes hold,
Shows up in the attitudes people have shown.

Why people refuse to understand ignorance,
Is so they do not have to be grouped with others.

Many millions of people do not really know life,
But are willing to lie to others, so as to not be preached upon.

The actions of people generates ignorance and foolishness,
They only care about themselves and what they can get.

What happens from their actions isn't their concern,
This is what makes ignorance such a destructive force.

The facts of life and the knowledge we carry,
Is for us to share with one another and willingly spread.

People do not trust much of what they learn,
Only because they believe they already know.

Many claim answers to life,
But their ignorance forces them to lie to others.

Hence, it is destroying those around them,
And they are unaware their actions does damage.

How many people must died,
Before ignorance can be justified as a defense.

Separation, racism, discrimination and many others,
Have been destroying life, after life, after life.

When does one finally put aside their ego,
So others can live.

Ignorance is never justified,
Regardless of what is believed.

Ignorance and arrogance go hand in hand and are at the root of all evil; they can never be justified

lyricsingray 2 years ago

Awesome I loved this; What happens from their actions isn't their concern,

This is what makes ignorance such a destructive force.

Keep writing Cagsil, keep writing, Thank you Kimberly

Hey Ray...

Profound poetic reflection! Just remember: Even if they choose to live in ignorance, the consequences will eventually return and punish them. Nobody but them is to blame!

Great work, my friend!

Thumbs up!

warmest regards and blessings,

Al

It seems - at least some time -- ignorance is a choice for some and an inevitability for others. Good Hub. Best, Sis

It's like going around doing whatever you want saying I'm sorry as if taking a breath, it's meaningless and just an excuse to treat others poorly. Peace :)Katie

Hey Katie, the one thing that is so annoying is that people use their ignorance, only when they refuse to accept truth. And, when they make mistakes and say "I'm sorry!", which really doesn't do anything, because those words are use so much that the words have lost all meaning. The people who do this are sad, pathetic and only out for themselves. Again, I appreciate you reading my writing. I'm always honored when others read my poems. :)

I always say that ignorance is wisdom nice thought, Cagsil...

Cagsil profile image

Cagsil Hub Author 2 years ago

Hey Moulik Mistry, I would have to disagree. Ignorance isn't wisdom. Wisdom is the understanding/meaning or knowing what knowledge/learnings have been accumulated and evaluated to be true. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge/learning. There are difference between the two and the misconception or thought process that leads people to believe that "ignorance is wisdom" is wrong. Simply by definitions alone and never mind any other reasons. Thank you very much for reading my poem. I am always grateful that anyone takes time to read them. :)

Well put buddy and further, genuine architecture of thinking, which is the only "expression" worth reading. Keep writing them & I'll keep reading them

nice,

Isn't kind of annoying when you write a poem up and post it on here and then the advertisement messes up the structure?

This is cool. I like the idea. Like what Brianzen said "Architecture of thinking" (great image by the way Brianzen) is very strong in this poem.

But where are the images. You have great ideas and great meaning which is making your poetry great but if you put good images to great ideas and meaning you get friggin' awesome poetry.

Example:

"This is what makes ignorance such a destructive force"

This is kinda abstract, what about like a "whirlwind of ignorance" or "Hurricane Ignorance". Toss in something the senses can relate to instead of abstractions like "distruction" and "Forces". Something that shows, makes the reader feel.

Really cool writing, "Keep writing them & I'll keep reading them" - (thanks brianzen)

Thank you Maheen for reading and commenting on my poem. However, I don't understand the first part of your comment and the second part makes no sense, because poems are always interesting to a point. ;)
