Women Writers of HubPages Happy Valentine's Day!

Welcome reader,

Yes, this opening statement is most likely to be similar to opening statements of the previous hubs. But, similar isn't exact same, which was the goal. Now, to be clear, you reached this page one of two ways (a) you came here from a previous page or (b) a search engine brought you here.

If you reached this page from a previous linked page, then I can only hope you're enjoying your tour of the Women Writers of HubPages Community and will continue to check out all the rest too. If you reached via a search engine, then you apparently were searching "Valentine's Day" or "Women Writers", and/or HubPages. Regardless of what you searched for, you have found your way into a series of hubs put together by myself as a Tribute to the Women Writers of HubPages. You'll find links to go forward and backwards, to find even more Women. You'll be able to read their profile/bio, see a nice picture of them and a profile link so you can see their articles. I'm sure you'll find something to interest you. With over 100 ladies, you are bound to find something.

My name is mljdgulley354. My daughter, tlpoague, is the reason behind why I joined HubPages.

She knew I loved to read mysteries, cook things from scratch, and use my homemaking skills that many do not practice these days.

Since I have retired, I have enjoyed many outdoor activities.

My daughter thought I should put some of these adventures, and lessons, of mine to use by sharing them with others.

After the birth of my first daughter in November 2009 I realised I needed to start doing what I'd always wanted to do - write. Up till that point in my life, I was a passive internet nerd - using the internet instead of creating it. I'd never made a website, had no idea what a keyword was and thought a backlink was some type of massage!

I was severely impacted by the Panda slap of February '10 and realised that I needed to make sure I had multiple income streams instead of just sticking with Hubpages. That said, I still earn nearly half my revenue from Hubpages.

Since November '09 I've had another daughter, started running a dozen websites, writing on half a dozen revenue sharing sites (I've got over 400 articles) and started a local writing group.I also run a half dozen Facebook pages with up to 35,000 likers in some.

I achieved all this in two years. So what am I trying to say? It's completely possible to get out there and learn how to make your footprint on the internet, you just need to stick at it - oh, and do a LOT of reading!

Bio for Lisa Furugen HubPages Name: Rusticliving

Born in southern California, Lisa lived most of her adult life in Hawaii.

Growing up in a musical family, Lisa studied piano and voice at an early age and began teaching piano at the age of 12 and voice at the age of 15.

After Lisa moved to Hawaii, she formed a new performance group called, “The Rising Generation” which consisted of 60 plus kids. This group was well known all over the state of Hawaii as they would perform on television, the Waikiki Shell, and various malls throughout the islands.

Her most profound and biggest accomplishment with the “Rising Generation” was in 1995 when they were commissioned by the Governor to record the song “Color the World with Love” which was pre-release as a dedication to the Oklahoma bombing victims and the Kobe, Japan Earthquake victims. The song was played nation-wide. Lisa says it was a humble honor that she and her kids will never forget.

Lisa has directed musical theatre for nearly thirty years. Her award winning shows include “Annie”, “South Pacific”, “Wizard of Oz”, “Cinderella”, “My Fair Lady”, “Copacabana”, “Forever Plaid”, and “Nunsense.” She has played several roles on stage including Dolly Levi (Hello Dolly), Guinevere (Camelot), and Mrs. Potts (Beauty and the Beast).

Lisa currently owns her own home décor and gift online store, “Rustic Living.”

Just Ask Susan

Originally I am from Montreal Quebec, and now reside in Ontario with my family. I first joined HubPages 15 months ago and have become somewhat addicted to this wonderful community of talented and supportive writers.

Having had a love for writing as long as I can remember, this site is perfect for me. When I am not writing, you can find me in the kitchen, as cooking is my second passion. I enjoy answering questions as you can tell by my name. If I do not know the answer I will go out of my way to research and find the answers you may be looking for.

I am a true Libra through and through, always trying to balance the scales while looking at both sides of everything in life. Strong believer of: “Everything happens for a reason.”

Mamadrama - Andreea Prusky

I am a passionate person by nature, I love to be in love!I have been writing poetry for over 15 years. I never tire of expressing stories of intimacy, relationships and even heartbreak.

Forming a connection with others is a basic human necessity. I am currently working on getting a book published and trying my hand at romance story writing. In the mean time I am the editor of an online magazine called Adult Passions, started by a dear fellow hubber Mark Baker, to help me get my work known and allow others to post their "passion".

My goal is to reach someone's emotional side and envoke feelings, or spark new ones!

Christina Lörnemark (thougtforce)

I write about many different subjects! The diverse topics reflects my personality since I have a passion to learn new things and I can be totally absorbed in doing so! Doing things half-hearted is nothing for me. Either I do something good, or I don´t do it at all!

During the years I have focused on different areas and interests. When I master what I am doing I either leave it for new interesting projects, or if it has become a great passion, I hold on to it! So the areas I write about is predominately my greatest interests! Read my hubs and you will know which they are!

I am a bit over-sensitive and I am the person who feel a need to start a conversation with a person standing alone at a party, the one who intuitive feel the mood of others even if their faces says different and the one who always try to adjust myself to the surroundings. Socialising in this way is exhausting so I guess I am a bit of an introvert.

Through my life I have constantly questioned both myself and my surrounding and done the changes needed.

I have no problem with big decisions like a new career, buying a house but small decisions can make me freak out! I can spend a lot of effort, endless time and frustration on choosing small things like: the right food, the right clothes, the best place at the beach, the best parking space or decide which bread to buy in the grocery store!

I worked at a emergency surgical ward in almost twenty years. It was really a passion for me and it ticked all the boxes: rapid change, need for empathy, social skills, need for quick and accurate decisions and actions, life and dead. The only thing that could compete with my work in healthcare was my big interest in earth science. I began to study again at an age of 38 years, and took my degree of masters of science in earth sciences after some years.

Earth science is the key to everything to me, the key to understand life and dead as well as the purpose of our time here on earth. I feel more complete as a person now after those years of studying but I guess I will always be heading somewhere. Right now, my big passion is to improve my writing and I love every hour I can spend doing it. Apart from writing, I have a full time job, a family and a big house with a challenging garden so time is never enough!

I have a biology degree and teach in a high school. I was born in Britain and spent my childhood and part of my teens there before moving to Canada. I feel a strong affinity for both countries. I’ve lived in three provinces of Canada - New Brunswick, Alberta and British Columbia. Wherever I've lived pets have been an important part of my life. At the moment my family contains dogs, cats and birds as well as humans.

Every since childhood I’ve had the same main interests - nature study, reading, creating and listening to music, writing and walking. As a child I loved to write short stories and poems, and I still do.

I’ve written a few poetry and story hubs at HubPages and also a few hubs about miscellaneous subjects, but most of my writing here has been about the living world. I find nature and the way the human body works endlessly fascinating. I love observing nature and learning new information about living things, and I never run out of writing ideas when I'm thinking about these topics.

PurvisBobbi44

I live in a rural area in Florida, on eclipsed property where the sunshine is filtered through the Oak and Cedar Trees; and our yard is home for many birds, butterflies, and squirrels; and in the summer humming birds. I live with my husband, Pomeranian and kitty in the quiet country side.

I love writing, photography, reading, cooking, making jewelry, and quietly helping others who needs it in our rural area. For some reason unknown to me I have become the caregiver in our family. And I am thankful I am young enough to help others.

I have many facets to my personality; I am a positive, happy person who loves people and animals. I was taught to be a sweet Southern Lady by my Angel Grandmother, but somehow it did not take very well. As I do have a temper if I see children, seniors or animals being mistreated, then the country girl in me comes out (and there is no sweetness there, just Tom Boy mean.)

I am very tenderhearted and care about others; however, I am a very private person, who needs her own time and space to create, read and relax with my family and friends. I am opinionated, but tactful, no patience for obnoxious people, no tolerance for chauvinistic people. And I especially do not have time for people who are stingy with their money and time. Rude people should be put on an Island by themselves; there is no excuse for bad manners. I devote very little time with negative, unpleasant people who say unkind things about others, and ones who complain about everything.

I am very professional in business, and I believe in executing duties and task correctly the first time, as I abhor redundancy. I believe employees should be trained correctly, so therefore, it eliminates their stress of a new job, and it provides them with greater satisfaction in their work.

Sharyn’s Slant

My name is Sharon Smith, and I can be found on HubPages as Sharyn’s Slant. I live in Northeast Ohio near one of the five Great “freshwater” Lakes: Lake Erie. I am an animal lover and advocate for their well being. I currently have two of the best cats in the world: Punkin & Peanut. I’m old enough now to be able to say that I’ve acquired some good ole’ wisdom along this journey called life. And typically, I’m not afraid to share that wisdom, even if I, not intentionally, end up with my foot in my mouth at times (which I do try to avoid).

I’ve worked in the “corporate” world most of my adult life. Two long-term jobs include the local electric company where I worked in Human Resources for over 16 years. And then I worked for the Ohio Aerospace Institute (a NASA affiliate) as an Education Program Coordinator for over 6 years. Since then (and in between), my creativity kicked in and I have worked a variety of jobs to make ends meet: eBay Seller, Mystery Shopper, Craft Show Vendor, Home Health Aide, freelance writer, other short-term jobs through a temp agency, and as a Housekeeping Supervisor for a hotel.

Currently, a lot of my time is filled working as a Certified Home Health Aide in private care, working online for Clickworker.com, and writing on HubPages.

Other than my passion for writing, I have always had a passion for working with the elderly. I love to make a difference in someone’s life, enhancing the quality of each new day. Out of all the work I have ever done, I am proud to say that working with the elderly (and writing, of course) has been the most rewarding for me.

Ardie Paul

Hello! My name is Ardie and I live in NE Ohio with my husband and our three daughters.

I currently holds a Bachelor's in Business but I choose to stay home wiping noses, cleaning toilets, and writing for pennies.

My family is my main priority - if I succeed as a mother I succeed in life.

Some lesser known information about me: my favorite colors are orange and yellow, I love the feeling of the sun on my face, I prefer cats to dogs, I can eat taco salad every single day and still want more.

I am very shy, I hate drinking coffee but I love smelling it, and I can make a sailor blush with my bad language.

Hollie Thomas

Hello and welcome,

Where do I start? Well, I’m a forty something woman and a mother of two teenagers aged 19 and 14 years respectively. Their names are Thomas and Hollie, hence, the inspiration for my pen name. My name on the other hand is Lisa.

My kids teach me a lot, not only do I know what a Madonna piercing is, I actually know who Slip Knot are. Anyway, just thought I’d briefly mention my alternative education.

I’ve had some unusual jobs; I’ve worked in a high security Prison, with the homeless, recently arrested, sex workers, substance users and people who were unfortunately referred to as mentally disordered offenders. I guess you could say, as my 81 year old mother puts it “You’ve seen life with the lid off.” I’m very grateful for those experiences, and very grateful to all those people I worked with, when you scratch the surface, they were just like me, except they’d had fewer opportunities.

On a personal level, I have a good few interests, cooking, gardening, animals, and ecology to mention a few. All the things Mother Nature blessed us with really. My latest fascination however, after buying a new camera, is photography. I tend to write hubs that I think will be helpful to people. I love food, so you’ll find quite a few recipes! But, who knows what will grace my keyboard in the future. Hop on board, we’ll discover together!

Loi-Renee

I am a renowned bookworm. There were times when I would lock myself away in my room for days reading, writing, and enjoying my solitude. I recently graduated from high school with first class honors and various awards. I have always loved writing, in all forms, and use this as a means of expressing myself and entertaining others. In addition to writing, I enjoy designing clothes, interior decorating, acting, and artwork.

I have had my share of problems. I have decided not to make them take control of me and bring me down. I learn from my negative experiences, and use my knowledge to help and encourage those around me. Life is too short not to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

Cheryl Simonds aka cherylone

I am a mother, and a grandmother. I have done some writing in my past but I have only had two poems actually published, before hubpages that is. They were published in two separate issues of “Through the Looking Glass” by The National Library of Poetry. One I have published here on hubpages. It was called “First Night Out” and was published in 1998, but I changed the title here to “Camping in the Back Yard”.

The other one is called “Ebon Wings” and was published in 1997, I might publish it here in the near future. I have attended The Institute of Children’s Literature and was actually recommended for further training (money was the issue that held me back). I never thought my writing was good enough to publish until now. I enjoy crafting of all types including painting (though I’m not very good), crocheting, and making Christmas Ornaments of all types.

I am an animal lover, but find I have a soft spot for cats (my children call me the “crazy cat lady”). I love snow and even though the cold makes my joints ache and I can’t go out in it safely anymore I still love to watch it fall, especially here in New England. However, if I have to choose a favorite season it would be fall because it is not too cold, not too warm and filled with beautiful color. My weakness with characters is Tigger and Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I love how they contradict each other and thus make a perfect match.

Deborah Neyens

Deborah Neyens is an attorney, author and freelance writer. After working 17 years as the in-house human resources attorney for an Iowa utility company, she recently decided to take a break from the corporate world to focus on her writing.

Shortly thereafter, she discovered HubPages while conducting research for her novel and was hooked. Her writing includes a mix of employment law and other topics she loves, including food, entertaining, and her organic vegetable garden. Much of her writing reflects a personal philosophy that food should be sustainably grown, lovingly prepared and joyfully eaten. She's eager to share her ideas so everyone can live longer, happier, healthier lives.

Vanessa aka vmartinezwilson

Let me start of by exclaiming that I love horror movies. I do enjoy film as a whole, so much so I have a degree in the field, but I really love watching horror movies. It’s funny because my husband and the majority of my family members don’t care for them, but I do. I’m already trying to get my daughter started at the young age of 6, introducing her to Scooby Doo and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

When it comes to writing about movies, I always try to take a more theoretical approach to studying film. It’s never just how well it does at the box office or how much I did or didn’t like it. I love to pick apart what makes a movie work, not work or even how a film creates one emotion or another. For me, it’s never just about how good or bad a movie is, but what affects it uses. Sure, movies should be entertaining, but the best ones go deeper than that.

Some say I’m a movie freak. Guilty as charged. I love the short, but exciting history of film and the people who forged out masterpieces by design or by accident. Movies have an interesting way of showing us the past, present, future and fantastic in a way that takes the audience out of their life and into an entirely new existence. I see the beauty in film the same way I see beauty in books. Both are worth enjoying and I hope to share some things I’ve enjoyed, researched and pondered on film with all who come to Hubpages.

I am single as per the documentary evidence, but rarely so in society. I am not really a party creature; but friends like to have me around them. I believe in collaborative management, so sometimes I get managed, rather than the other way. But things work out fine. After work, I love to experiment with my cup of tea. In the summer holidays, I like to go backpacking.A citrus flavored tea is my favorite beverage, but I need good company to enjoy it.

I am one of those who were the model for the ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ idiom. But that is incidental and not because I am flippant. I am intrigued by life and living. Watercolor in painting, the spring air, the Himalayas, Rajput and Mughal architecture, Paris, a world without war – these are some of my reality and dream. Selfishness and shortsightedness, in matters of political and economic issues, makes me impatient. But I am an optimist.

As I think a lot, I can go on writing on many subjects. Reading and writing is for me, for all season.
